Darryl Buendia uncorks cycle hits against New York (A)
TAMPA BAY - Darryl Buendia led
Tampa Bay to a 13-6 win over New York (A) by squeezing
four hits out of his bat. That's not the best part,
though. He hit for the cycle as well! A single in the
1st off Fermin Delmonte accounted
for his 1st hit. Number 2 in the 2nd inning accounted
for a two-run double. In the 6th inning he unloaded
a triple off Reggie Bay. A 402
foot drive to left-center marked his 4th hit, a two-run
homerun off Ben Guzman in the
8th inning. That drive completed the cycle, causing
a smile on his face! Darryl scored one run, and he
collected 5 RBI as well! He is hitting .296 this season,
with 11 HR and 63 RBI. He becomes the 346th player
in league history collect at least a single, double,
triple and a homerun in a single game. Richard
Krause was the last player to hit for the cycle,
doing it 6/26/2071.
